Liverpool's most recent dismissal of a manager after a run of two losses in 11 games makes Arne Slot's nine defeats in 12 matches seem even more alarming.
Since Fenway Sports Group took over the club, the Reds have enjoyed stability with managers, largely due to Jurgen Klopp's long tenure. However, the current situation facing Slot could compel FSG to take action as the team's decline shows no signs of abating.
PSV visited Anfield and secured a significant 4-1 victory on Wednesday, netting three times in the second half. This marked the second time in five days that a visiting team had scored at least three goals, following Nottingham Forest's 3-0 win on Merseyside.
This string of results, dating back to late September, has seen Liverpool transition from a Premier League frontrunner into a team languishing in the bottom half.
Liverpool's chances of retaining the title are virtually extinguished, and it's not even December yet.
The Reds have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup.

Slot is being granted some patience, given his Premier League title win in his first year. However, there is no indication that this losing streak will end, and few can find any small rays of hope to cling to.
FSG was prepared to fire Brendan Rodgers following a 1-1 draw at Everton back in November 2015 - a decade ago - and brought in Klopp four days later.
Rodgers' dismissal run
The availability of the German manager was undoubtedly a factor, and Rodgers had just come off a poor season. Yet the abruptness of his dismissal came as a shock, especially since Liverpool was not in a downward spiral - unlike the team's current situation.
In the 2015-16 season, Liverpool started with consecutive wins before drawing at Arsenal. Two successive losses, the first being a 3-0 defeat to West Ham at Anfield, followed by a loss at Old Trafford, damaged Rodgers' standing, but that wasn't the final straw.
The team's performance was a concern, with Norwich managing to secure a draw against Liverpool. Rodgers' last victory was a five-goal thriller against Crystal Palace. Outside of the league, Liverpool struggled to win, but it wasn't losing as frequently as it is now.
The Reds drew both of their Europa League matches, although more was expected given they were playing against Bordeaux and FC Sion. They needed penalties to defeat Carlisle at Anfield after the Cumbrians fought to a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes.
The stalemate in the Merseyside derby ended without any indication that Rodgers was about to be fired, but that was the decision made by the club's management.
Liverpool's bosses are once again facing a situation where they may need to take action, a thought that seemed unimaginable in the summer when the champions spent around $600 million and nearly every pundit predicted the Reds to retain their title.
