FSG have a ‘policy’ in place that may actually stop Arne Slot from being sacked - journalist

Liverpool have lost nine of their last 12 matches in all competitions for the first time since 1953/54.

After the Reds’ latest defeat, Arne Slot confirmed conversations with FSG about the 2025/26 campaign.

Liverpool fans are voting heavily in favour of the Dutchman being removed from his post, and you can join the conversation:

Should Liverpool sack Arne Slot?

But, at least until we see what happens in the West Ham fixture, it appears as though Slot is not going anywhere just yet.

Why FSG may not sack Arne Slot

Speaking on the Indo Sport podcast, journalist Miguel Delaney has explained how FSG’s policy remains, at least for now, to take the longer-term approach with their manager.

He said: “What I’m hearing though, is that Liverpool still want to take the long-term view and kind of, I suppose, you know, keep measured about this, because that has been the policy of the club under this ownership.

“But I suppose the key to this, and we’ve heard this so many times in similar cases like Mourinho 15/16, even, I suppose, a more extreme example on the other side, Leicester 16/17, where clubs will want to take the medium to long term view and keep the manager, but events can intervene.”

Delaney’s comments come on the back of an interesting claim from Dean Jones about Liverpool keeping Slot even if they continue to lose matches.

Liverpool are delaying the inevitable

While FSG’s stance on not making rash decisions when it comes to managers is admirable, in this case, a dismissal does feel justified.

Teams like Manchester United are well-known for continuously turning over their coaches, often to the detriment of the team.

That’s something Liverpool have tended to avoid under their current owners, but when it comes to Slot, it appears as though he has no idea how to turn things around.

Players seem devoid of confidence, and the effort level of key stars like Mohamed Salah seems to have dropped off massively.
