£32M problem to force Daniel Farke into key Leeds United change against Manchester City

Daniel Farke Leeds United

Daniel Farke and Leeds United will face Manchester City this weekend as the Whites continue their search for a result after the past few games. Saturday will see the club visit the Etihad Stadium.

City have lost just one home game this season, winning five in a row ahead of the visit of Leeds. This run of games has not been easy on the Whites, who are without a win in their last three games. Rumours are already emerging from around the club over Daniel Farke’s future. Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou have been some of the big names linked to the hot seat.

Leeds are in the relegation zone ahead of Saturday’s clash and it will be a surprise if they manage to get something from the game.

Daniel Farke to be forced into Leeds United change

Bad news for Leeds heading into the weekend as some players will miss the match with injuries. Unfortunately for Farke, he will be without two key players in the middle of the park; Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff. He confirmed the duo will not be available on Saturday during the pre-match press conference:

”…Anton Stach will definitely miss Man City, following concussion protocols. Allowed back in team training Sunday if everything goes our way.

”Sean Longstaff also out with a calf injury suffered during the last game.”

This will be a huge blow for the Whites, as these two midfielders have been responsible for a lot in the team. Stach and Longstaff carry the attacking load and also help with chance creation from set pieces this season.

Fans could see a new system on Saturday

With Stach and Longstaff out, it leaves three fit first team midfielders for the Manchester City clash: Ethan Ampadu, Ilia Gruev and Ao Tanaka. Some have suggested that the Whites could go into a back five to face Pep Guardiola’s side away from home.

This would mean that Struijk comes into the lineup alongside Gruev or Tanaka. A center back trio of Rodon, Struijk and Bijol with a midfield pivot of Ampadu and/or Tanaka. Fans have been crying out for Farke to try something new, and the Leeds boss has a chance to do it this weekend. The Whites need to get some points on the board or risk sliding further down the table.
