Newcastle United team news v Everton

Everton v Newcastle United: Injury latest on Kieran Trippier, Yoane Wissa, William Osula, Emil Krafth and Sven Botman.

It will be The Magpies’ first ever visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium as they eye a first Premier League away win of the season. Newcastle drew 0-0 with Everton at Goodison Park last season with Anthony Gordon missing a penalty before they lost 1-0 to David Moyes’ side on the final day of the 2024/25 campaign at St James’ Park.

Despite the defeat, Newcastle were still able to claim Champions League qualification on goal difference ahead of Aston Villa. United were in Champions League action on Tuesday night at Marseille, losing 2-1 at Stade Velodrome.

Here is the latest Newcastle United injury news and expected return dates...

Sven Botman (back)

Botman has been on the bench for Newcastle’s last two matches as he nurses a minor back issue.

Ahead of the Everton match, Howe said: “Nothing major I don't think from the game. We'll obviously have a good look at the lads today. We've got Sven Botman who's been nursing a bit of a back problem the last few days. Yeah, apart from that I think we're the same.”

Expected return date: Everton (A) - 29/11

Emil Krafth (knee)

Krafth picked up a knee injury on international duty with Sweden and missed the Manchester City and Marseille matches as a result.

The 31-year-old defender travelled with the squad to Marseille and took part in the on-field training session on Monday evening before pulling out of the matchday squad at Stade Velodrome.

Howe suggested the trip to Everton would probably come ‘too soon’ for Krafth despite positive scan results.

Expected return date: Burnley (H) - 06/12

William Osula

Osula has missed Newcastle’s last four matches due to an ankle issue that he was initially playing through. The forward went to see an injury specialist on Monday with the scan results coming back clear. But the pain is still persisting in his ankle which could keep him out.

Expected return date: Bayer Leverkusen (A) - 10/12

Yoane Wissa

Wissa took part in first-team training for the first time this week as he steps up his recovery from a knee injury that has so far prevented him from making his Newcastle debut.

The 29-year-old forward joined Newcastle on deadline day for £55million before injuring himself on international duty with DR Congo days later.

Now he’s stepping up his recovery, he is on course to finally return to action in December provided there are no further setbacks. The African Cup of Nations squads being announced on December 11 is another big date to look out for, with the forward not expected to be back in action before then.

Expected return date: Fulham (H) - 17/12

Kieran Trippier (hamstring)

Trippier has missed the last two games for Newcastle after suffering a hamstring injury during the international break.

Howe then claimed the right-back would be out of action for around a month, so will be pushing to be back in action before the new year.

Expected return date: Manchester United (A) - 26/12
