In the days after Sunday’s Cowboys win over the Eagles, a game that began in its early stages with dropped passes from star receiver CeeDee Lamb, quarterback Dak Prescott kept insisting that Lamb was the last guy he was worried about in the Cowboys locker room. After all, he’d seen Lamb from the beginning of his career six seasons ago, confidently establish himself as a star in the NFL and push himself to be an all-time Cowboys great.
The dropped passes–at least two, depending on how you count them–were not Lamb’s finest hour. But Prescott warned us all that Lamb would shed the frustration of that game and get back to being himself next time he was on the field.
And on Thanksgiving against the Chiefs, that’s just what Lamb did, going for seven catches on nine targets, tallying 112 yards and a touchdown–and drawing three big second-half pass interference penalties against Chiefs star Trent McDuffie.
CeeDee Lamb Bounce-Back: ‘The Way the Guy’s Wired’
After the Thanksgiving win, Prescott told Cowboys reporters that he’d warned us all that Lamb was not going to stew on Sunday’s failures and let them leech into Thursday’s game.
“I told you,” Prescott said with a smile. “It’s the way the guy’s wired. That’s what great ness looks like. You’re going to have days you’re not proud of, you’re going to have days that aren’t to your standard, especially when your standard is as high as CeeDee Lamb. And I just know the way that he approaches this game, the way he loves this game and what he puts into it. He was gonna answer back.”

Dak Prescott Kept Going Back to CeeDee Lamb
Prescott himself had a rather nice game, and had to overcome some early adversity. He threw an interception on the team’s first drive, which helped set up a Chiefs touchdown. Prescott came back with 320 yards in the air and two touchdowns.
And he did no hesitate to throw Lamb’s way, over and over again.
“Hearing him in the postgame (Sunday) saying, my next game is my best game, that is the mentality,” Prescott said. “He wears it. He practices that way. It’s no surprise that he did what he did tonight. Obviously the yards, the catches, the touchdowns but also drawing the penalties and just being unstoppable.”
Cowboys Playoff Chances Improving
The Cowboys now are 6-5-1 and though their hopes for earning a playoff spot are still thin–they’re probably going to have to continue their three-game winning streak and win out from here–Prescott has a new appreciation for where this team is and what’s ahead.
“We can be whatever we want to be,” Prescott said. “Everything is in front of us. I was just telling the offense that when we were in those kneel downs at the end of the game.
“It’s not gonna happen next Thursday. It is going to happen Sunday when we get in the building. It is taking it one game at a time. Putting everything in and understanding that we win during the week with our preparation and we just get to come out here and play the game we love and playing it free. All these wins have done is give us more and more confidence. And this brotherhood is as strong as tight as I’ve ever seen.”
