A Manchester City star man is out of Saturday’s Premier League visit of Leeds United to the Etihad.

Guardiola has been without Ballon d’Or winner Rodri and Croatian international midfielder Mateo Kovacic of late - Kovacic recovering from ankle surgery and expected to be back in the new year.

Rodri, meanwhile, has not started a game since suffering a hamstring injury in October’s win at Brentford.

After missing the Premier League clashes against Everton and Aston Villa, the midfielder bagged one minute from the bench in the 3-1 win against Bournemouth at the start of the month but has not featured since.

Star definitely out

Asked ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League hosting of Bayer Leverkusen when he expected Rodri back, Guardiola said “not long” but that that City would wait a little when the 29-year-old was back to ensure that he was ready.

Guardiola, though, has now revealed that Rodri is still out ahead of Saturday’s visit of Daniel Farke’s Whites.

“Not yet” said the City boss, asked if Rodri was ready to play.

Asked how far off he was, Guardiola added: “Not much further.”
