Nuno delivers Crysencio Summerville update as West Ham prepare to welcome back trio

Nuno Espirito Santo has indicated that Crysencio Summerville and Konstantinos Mavropanos may make their West Ham United returns against flailing Premier League champions Liverpool on Sunday.

The Hammers missed the speed and ball-carrying of Summerville during the 2-2 draw away at AFC Bournemouth last time out.

Dinos Mavropanos, meanwhile, has not featured since the defeat by Brentford five weeks ago.

But in a timely boost for a West Ham United side desperate to hand Liverpool a tenth defeat from 13 matches in league and cup, Nuno Espirito Santo has indicated that both Crysencio Summerville and the big Greek central defender will be given Saturday’s training session to prove they are ready to be involved in the squad.

Crysencio Summerville and Dinos Mavropanos could return for West Ham United against Liverpool

“Both of them are getting better,” Nuno said during his pre-match press conference. “Tomorrow, [it will be time] to assess.”

West Ham could, in fact, have three key first-teamers back in contention.

Lucas Paqueta is expected to start against Liverpool, having missed that Bournemouth draw on the back of a suspension-triggering five yellow cards.

Mavropanos’ impending return will put more pressure on Max Kilman, meanwhile, after another error-strewn performance on the South Coast. Summerville is likely to take the place of Luis Guilherme after the teenage Brazilian was subbed off just 45 minutes into his first Premier League start of 2025/26.

And, while many Liverpool fans are predicting an early Jarrod Bowen dagger, Portuguese playmaker Mateus Fernandes could actually be West Ham’s best hope of securing a first victory over the Reds in four years.
