“Things will get out of hand”–Journalist piling pressure on Liverpool manager Arne Slot

“Things will get out of hand” for Arne Slot at Liverpool if they don’t beat West Ham United and Leeds United in their next two games.

That’s according to journalist Valentijn Driessen. He’s been speaking about Slot on De Telegraaf, relayed by PSV Supporters.

Slot finds himself firmly in the spotlight after the 4-1 loss to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League this week. That defeat continued Liverpool’s disastrous run of form. They’ve now lost nine of their last 12 games in all competitions.

The loss also made it three straight defeats by a three-goal margin as well. The pressure has been mounting on Slot as a result. While he appeared to have the magic touch last season as Liverpool won the title, that has now seemingly deserted him.

Some fans are already calling for change, although there is no indication Liverpool’s owners will move for the time being. What happens in the next week could be crucial.

Liverpool have winnable fixtures ahead

FRANKFURT, GERMANY – 22 OCTOBER, 2025: Arne Slot – UEFA Champions League. SG Eintracht Frankfurt vs Liverpool FC at Deutsche Bank Park.

Liverpool take on West Ham away from home before hosting Sunderland and then travelling to Leeds United. While Sunderland are 7th, West Ham and Leeds sit 17th and 18th respectively. And Driessen believes those two games could be crucial.

“This is, of course, a thrashing that’s going to ripple through all of Europe,” he said.

“Whether it’ll have much of an impact on his position, I don’t immediately think so. If you look at the schedule now, he’s getting West Ham United, Leeds United, those are the teams you should be taking on.

“If you don’t win those, things will get out of hand, and it will become problematic.”

Driessen certainly isn’t letting Slot off the hook. Earlier this week he also claimed he saw “pure panic” in his eyes as PSV ran riot at Anfield. Now he’s putting the pressure on him even more.
