Viktor Gyokeres injury latest as Mikel Arteta provides triple Arsenal update

Mikel Arteta has provided fitness updates on Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard ahead of Arsenal's trip to Chelsea this weekend. Trossard was forced off during the first half of the Gunners' impressive Champions League victory over Bayern Munich. The Belgian forward, who has recently found the net against both Sunderland and Tottenham, sustained a calf problem.

Following the Bayern Munich triumph, Arteta revealed that Trossard "felt something" and neither he nor his medical team were prepared to take any chances, immediately bringing on Noni Madueke as his replacement.

However, the Arsenal boss has now suggested the former Brighton star could potentially feature against Chelsea.

He said: "With Leo there is another test today, it didn't look much. There is a potential chance he could be available."

Regarding Gyokeres and Havertz, Arteta remained coy about their availability for the Stamford Bridge encounter.

When questioned about whether the pair might be involved, he responded: "Yeah, we have another day tomorrow. So let's see how it goes."

Pressed further on whether their midweek scans showed positive results, he continued: "Clear, not yet. But they are getting closer and closer".

Arteta also confirmed that Gabriel Jesus recently featured in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Watford, marking his return to action following knee surgery in January.

Arteta commented: "Yeah it did happen, Gabi participated, Ethan as well, as he wanted some minutes. We took that opportunity."

Gabriel Magalhaes will continue to be absent due to a thigh injury sustained during the international break with Brazil.

The 27-year-old has also undergone further scans this week in an attempt to gain a clearer picture of when he might return to action.

Arteta commented on Gabriel's condition, suggesting he may recover sooner than expected:

"Not yet, I think he's evolving really really well," said the Spaniard. We have to wait for the scan a little bit longer. I am really confident the way that Gabi has evolved."

The defender was initially predicted to be out for around four weeks when he first encountered the issue. He has already spent nearly two weeks recuperating since Brazil's friendly victory over Senegal.
