Ibrahima Konate has accepted the criticism of Liverpool supporters who “sing for us even in the difficult moments” as part of a wider message from Arne Slot‘s squad.
Konate has become a target for supporters during Liverpool’s miserable run of form, with a number of high-profile errors making the Frenchman stand out.
That was no different on Wednesday night when Slot’s side slipped to a 4-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League and turned the narrative to whether the head coach should be sacked.
There was a distinct silence throughout most of the next day, before a series of posts from the squad on social media.

“We have to take this moment on the chest,” Konate wrote on Instagram.
“Criticism is part of football, and we’ll fight back every time and come through this storm.
“In these moments, the fans matter most. The ones who stand with us in the good times and the bad – the ones who sing for us even in the difficult moments!
“Your voice and your support mean everything to us. We know we need to improve and we’ll keep fighting for you. Always.”

There seemed a clear directive from the leaders in the squad to show a united front, with captain Virgil van Dijk no doubt aware of the outside pressure on Slot.
“We’re facing one of the toughest moments of our journey, but we refuse to let this define us,” Van Dijk shared on his Instagram story.
“We will rise from this. I believe in this team with everything I have.
“Nothing has ever been handed to us – we’ve fought for everything, and this moment is no different.
“We won’t give in. Won’t give up. Every challenge is an opportunity. We must grow together, lift each other up, and show the strength that lies within us.
“To the fans, keep supporting us. We all need each other more than ever!”

Dominik Szoboszlai added: “These are tough moments but we are winners and we will rise as one!”
And speaking to Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport after full-time at Anfield, Cody Gakpo took a similar stance – urging Liverpool to avoid division.
“Unfortunately, this is part of life sometimes,” he said, per VoetbalPrimeur.
“This isn’t what the club and the fans deserve, but we definitely have to fight our way out of this, and we have to do it together.”
