The Gunners come off a superb win against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and they are going into the weekend, top of the table in Europe, but also top of the Premier League table.

Arsenal have a six point lead against Chelsea, who are their closest challengers in the Premier League, making Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge that much bigger, and more crucial. Chelsea are in great form at the moment, as they beat Barcelona 3-0 in their last game.

Furthermore, midfielder Cole Palmer looks set to be available for the game, which will give the notorious Arsenal defence another issue to deal with. But, Arsenal remain the favourites heading into the game, and they are hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points.

Chris Sutton predicts win for ‘powerful’ Gunners side

Former Premier League forward Chris Sutton has made his weekly score predictions for BBC Sport, and he believes that Arsenal will win 2-0 against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

Sutton wrote: “Chelsea have kept three clean sheets in a row now too, so they are looking pretty solid at the back, but I still think Arsenal will be too powerful for them. Mikel Arteta’s side showed how good they are when they beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.

“They have shown they can beat any team in any way – out-muscle them, out-fight them or out-play them – and they will be ready for Chelsea. Maresca might go with some pace up top again like he did against Barcelona’s high line, but Arsenal will have too much nous for them and I actually think they will win pretty comfortably.

“Chelsea have made a really good start to the season but I don’t see them, or anyone else, pushing Arsenal close in the title race.”
