The Gunners are now six points clear at the top of the table, with Chelsea being their closest rivals, as the Blues managed to beat Burnley, with Manchester City and Liverpool both tasting defeat.
Eberechi Eze will go down as the star against Tottenham, as he scored three goals in his first ever North London derby. However, there is a different Arsenal player who has been massively under-appreciated this season…
Leandro Trossard’s Arsenal numbers don’t lie
Everyone is talking about just how good Eze has been, especially after his performance against Tottenham, but it should be time for the world to give Leandro Trossard some credit. He has quietly been one of Arsenal’s best players this season.
Trossard scored and provided an assist against Spurs, to take his tally to three goals and three assists in the Premier League. He has scored the same number of league goals as Bukayo Saka, and managed three more assists, yet nobody is talking about him.
There was talk last year of Arsenal potentially selling the Belgian international, but he is now looking like a must start each and every week for Arteta.
Beyond the stats: Ferdinand hails Trossard’s intangibles
Trossard has arguably been one of the most under-appreciated players in the Premier League this season, and he is helping Arsenal on their way to a league title, scoring incredible goals at incredible times.
Former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand recently described Trossard as “a joke” for how good he has been, not only this season, but since he signed in 2023.
Ferdinand said on his Podcast: “Trossard has been ridiculous. He doesn’t get the love he deserves from Arsenal fans because his goal contributions since he signed, only Saka has got more. [It’s also the] important goals he scores, whether it be an equaliser or a late winner—he’s just [his] input has been a joke.”
The Belgian international deserves more credit, as in a team with attackers such as Noni Madueke, Gabriel Martinelli, Eberechi Eze and more, he’s been able to become a regular on the left-wing.
