Updates On Ekitike, Wirtz & 4 More: Liverpool Injury News & Expected Return Dates

Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitike is a doubt for the Reds’ game against West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool is in a real position of peril at the moment. Arne Slot’s job is under scrutiny, and they sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table. Their last game was a shockingly bad 4-1 defeat to PSV in the Champions League.

Slot will hope to bounce back this weekend as the Reds play West Ham, who are currently battling against relegation under Nuno Espirito Santo, but they have won two of their last three games.

Striker Hugo Ekitike could miss the game, as he is dealing with a lower back injury. It isn’t understood to be a major problem, but the Frenchman is a doubt ahead of Sunday’s clash. He had to be subbed off against PSV in midweek.

Slot said on Thursday: “They don’t expect that it has to be a big issue, but the games come fast, so let’s see for the weekend. But it shouldn’t have to be a big issue.”

Expected return date – Sunday 30 November vs West Ham

Florian Wirtz

Wirtz is also a doubt ahead of the West Ham game, as the German international is dealing with a knock that he picked up whilst on international duty during the last break.

He is currently being assessed ahead of the Reds’ trip to London, and Slot provided an update on him on Thursday. The Liverpool boss said: “Florian will have his final day of rehab tomorrow. So, if that all goes well, he could train with the team on Saturday.”

He is expected to feature on Sunday afternoon, but it could be an appearance from the bench rather than starting for Slot.
