"Watch out..." - Champions League-winning manager is "hovering" over Liverpool "like a UFO"

Arne Slot’s future at Liverpool is in doubt and Jurgen Klopp is “hovering” over Anfield “like a UFO”, according to journalist Marcel Reif.

Sunday’s trip to West Ham in the Premier League feels like a must-win game for Slot, following nine defeats in the last 12 matches for the Reds.

Opinion is split about the Dutchman’s future, but it is clear that vast improvements are needed, or he will be out of a job sooner rather than later.

Now, according to Bild journalist Reif [via Sport Witness], Klopp continues to hover over Slot at Liverpool, with a return to the club not completely out of the question.

“Liverpool isn’t just in a mess. It’s practically burned to the ground! The timing of this statement (Klopp’s on Diary of a CEO) is terrible for Slot. He’s hovering over Anfield like a UFO. All of Liverpool would carry him back on their shoulders. And it would be negligent if they didn’t try to bring Klopp back.

“In Liverpool, the scar from his departure is far from healed. I don’t know what it’s like being Global Head of Soccer, and whether you ever start to wonder, ‘Is this really me?’ He was exhausted after that time. It took its toll. Now he looks very rested. Almost as if Arne Slot has to watch out.”

Could a Klopp return at Liverpool actually happen?

It goes without saying that Slot will hopefully turn things around to an extent that no new manager is needed at Liverpool, with winnable games against West Ham, Sunderland and Leeds United to come in the next week or so.

While some Reds supporters would no doubt love the idea of the legendary Champions League and Premier League-winning Klopp to return, it is hard to see it happening.

The German was clearly a jaded figure when he decided to leave Liverpool, and he may simply not want the stresses that come with management at this point in his life.

If Klopp does make a return in that capacity, it feels more likely that he could replace Julian Nagelsmann as Germany’s manager, and a Reds reunion would be a huge shock.
