Now that the nerves have calmed down from Arsenal’s massive win v Bayern Munich on Wednesday, it’s time to to look ahead to Sunday’s London Derby v Chelsea.
This is the Premier League’s current #1 v #2, a match that will help set the stage for the title run going forward. Chelsea currently trails the Gunners by six points.
Of course, this is always a huge match. Chelsea are the current Club World Cup champions, the winner of two Champions League titles and five Premier League crowns. Obviously, the Blues are never a club to take lightly, and this year is no exception.
For Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has reported that Leandro Trossard and Viktor Gyorkeres could be ready for Sunday, and that Gabriel Jesus responded well during a behind closed doors match on Thursday. He could very well be on the bench for this match.
Another storyline to watch this weekend will be the return of Noni Madueke to Stamford Bridge. Madueke came to the Gunners during the summer and expects to hear some hostility from the Chelsea faithful.
This match could be a very open contest with the the result coming down to a penalty kick or a last minute goal. It should be a thriller.
With that said, here’s my starting XI prediction for the Gunners on Sunday…
[4-2-2]
Martinelli, Gyokeres, Saka
Rice, Eze, Zubimendi
Calafiori, Mosquera, Saliba, Timber,
Raya
Predicted final score: Chelsea 1 – ARSENAL 3
