Marcus Rashford could finally fulfil his dream of playing at the Camp Nou this weekend. The on-loan Manchester United striker has previously spoken of his desire to play in front of Barcelona's fans at their iconic stadium after his career with the Spanish giants began at the Olympic Stadium.

The Catalan side hadn't featured at the Camp Nou since 2023, instead staging matches at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, whilst their home undergoes a massive £1.3 billion redevelopment scheme. However, the England international missed out on Barca's return last weekend due to illness.

Barca enjoyed a successful homecoming at the Camp Nou as they defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-0, with Rashford forced to observe from the sidelines. Since Rashford completed the loan transfer to Barcelona he admitted that a significant factor in making the switch was the opportunity to feature at the iconic venue.

He may now finally receive his opportunity with Barcelona welcoming Alaves in La Liga on Saturday afternoon. Upon joining Barca, Rashford said: "It's a very nice feeling. It's a beautiful stadium and when it is full it's going to be unbelievable. Camp Nou was always one of my favourite stadiums and one I wanted to play in."

He added: "But to play on it for Barcelona is going to be a different feeling. I cannot wait to be on the pitch. I will enjoy it."

The ground's renovation is scheduled for completion in 2027, when its capacity will expand to 105,000, making it the fifth largest stadium in the world. The Catalan giants have also lodged an application with UEFA requesting permission to move their remaining Champions League home matches back to the Camp Nou this season.

Rashford has netted six times and registered nine assists in 17 appearances across all competitions so far this term, with Barcelona trailing Real Madrid by just three points in La Liga.

The 28-year-old has adapted well to his fresh start after his Old Trafford exit turned sour following a deterioration in his relationship with United manager Ruben Amorim.

The Spanish media have given Rashford a glowing reception, lauding both his performances on the pitch and how quickly he's adjusted to his new life in Catalonia. Rashford, for his part, seems to be relishing his time in Spain.

When asked by ESPN whether he wanted to remain at Barcelona and secure a permanent transfer, he replied: "Oh yeah, for sure."

He continued: "I'm enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player it is an honour."
