‘I would be lying’: David Moyes Sets Jack Grealish Challenge Ahead of Newcastle Game

Everton manager David Moyes has challenged Jack Grealish to score more goals ahead of tomorrow’s fixture.

Grealish has been a breath of fresh air since arriving on Merseyside in the summer. Indeed, the 30-year-old is visibly the happiest he’s been in a number of years.

His vision and creativity have been a joy to watch, however Moyes insists there is yet another level to his game.

Indeed, the Everton boss wants to see more goals from the England international, throwing down the gauntlet.

Speaking at today’s press conference, Moyes said: “I do [think he can reach another level]. I would be lying if I said I am completely happy. I want him to score more goals actually.

“He’s probably played more games this year than he did in all of last year or even the last couple of years. He’s done well.

“Physically he’s coming on, but we want to keep on top of him and keep him in the best condition.”

GREALISH IS DUE A GOAL. CAN HE SCORE AGAINST NEWCASTLE TOMORROW?

In 10 games this season, Grealish has four assists However, this should be a higher number given the quality and quantity of chances he’s created.

His only goal of the season so far was his late winner against Crystal Palace, so the midfielder is due one.

Iliman Ndiaye is currently the Toffees’ top scorer with four goals. Michael Keane and Idrissa Gueye each have two.

With a limited forward line who have one league goal between them, there is a need to spread goals around the team.

Moyes challenged both Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall prior to the Manchester United game on Monday.

Dewsbury-Hall of course instantly responded with a stunning strike that earned the Toffees all three points.

Hopefully Grealish can also provide an immediate reply to Moyes’ challenge with a goal against Newcastle tomorrow.
