The Los Angeles Lakers have a date with the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night. Not only will it be another chance for Luka Doncic to make the franchise remember his name, but it will also be an NBA Cup battle.

If you haven’t seen it yet, the Lakers are rolling with an all-yellow court. Sure, someone might tell you it’s gold. But let’s be real, the court is school bus yellow.

As an NBA Cup court hater, the best news came out on Friday regarding the Lakers’ game with the Mavericks.
According to NBA reporter Dave McMenamin, the Lakers’ cup court design will not be used in their game on Friday night.

“The Lakers will not play on the NBA Cup court tonight when they host the Mavericks, according to the team. Techs from the league’s court vendor determined that the court is unplayable for tonight. It will be sent back to the vendor for repairs,” wrote McMenamin on his X account.

This news is a blessing for those of us who want to see a basketball game on a regular basketball court. It will also look better on Luka Doncic’s career highlight reel when they show his dominance over the Mavericks.

The game is set to tip at 10 pm ET on Friday. It may be the only game of the season where Mavericks fans openly root against their team.
