Another day, another trade rumor report regarding the Sacramento Kings. This time from Brett Siegel at ClutchPoints.
Let’s start with the amusing/sad part. Siegel reports that everyone across the league knows the Kings are searching for a “franchise point guard.” Remember when Sacramento had one of those? The same guy who is putting the San Antonio Spurs on his back right now without Wemby?
Cool.
So, Sacramento, as has already been reported, is willing to trade nearly anyone on the roster considering the road to nowhere the team is on this season. (Something most of the fans, but not the franchise could see as they were trying to win this season.) Siegel reports that most teams expect the Kings to trade two of the three of Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan by the trade deadline.
Siegel’s report indicates DeRozan as having the easiest path to a trade of the three, listing the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies as potential landing spots.
“Out of the three Kings stars, DeRozan is the most likely to be moved. More teams around the league can absorb his contract, and trading for DeRozan will be a desperation move for any playoff team wanting a mid-range scorer to help lead their second unit…
Keep an eye on the Bucks, LA Clippers, Miami Heat, Portland Trail Blazers, and Memphis Grizzlies as suitable destinations for DeRozan.”
A report earlier this week indicated that the Kings are not interested in LaMelo Ball, but Siegel reports that “Both the Kings and Timberwolves have been mentioned as possible landing spots from league personnel.”
How about our old friend Jonathan Kuminga? interest is still there: “As far as suitors for Kuminga go, the regulars are still relevant. Interest from the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings will exist prior to the trade deadline, much like this past summer.” Siegel reports that that the Golden State Warriors are not interested in trading for Sabonis.
“Many teams around the NBA aren’t looking for the type of player Sabonis is, as his lack of athleticism and ability to consistently stretch the floor as a shooting option limits his potential in another organization’s system.”
We’ll see you next time on the next episode of Kangz rumors.
