The Los Angeles Lakers won’t use their special NBA Cup court for their final group stage game of the in-season tournament on Saturday (AEDT) after players voiced concerns it was too slippery.
The Lakers played on the yellow court in a victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, but Lakers superstar Luka Doncic said after the contest that he thought the floor was dangerous.

“It’s just slippery. It’s dangerous... I slipped a lot of times, and you could see a lot of players slipped,” he said.
Teammate Rui Hachimura said Saturday that the court “felt weird.”
“That was bad ... I felt it right away … it just felt weird. Just like oily, slippery,” Hachimura said.

“Everybody was on the floor, literally. Every second ... We’re going to do the normal court (Saturday), so it will be fine.”
The special, brightly painted courts are used for NBA Cup games in a bid to help distinguish the tournament games from other regular-season contests.
A team spokesman told the Los Angeles Times that the court vendor had determined the surface was “unplayable” but it will be repaired and available for the NBA Cup quarter-finals if needed.
At 3-0 in group play the Lakers have clinched a place in the quarter-finals, and they can secure home-court advantage in the quarters with a victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
