Arsenal have some injury concerns to deal with as they prepare to face Chelsea, Brentford and Aston Villa within seven days

Arsenal face a busy week in their bid to become Premier League champions as they face Chelsea, Brentford and Aston Villa inside seven days.

Up first is a clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon before they host Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night. They then make the trip to Aston Villa on Saturday, December 6.

It could prove to be a key week in the Gunners’ season as they hold a six-point lead over Chelsea going into the run of games. A win on Sunday could all-but put the Blues out of the title race with just 13 games played.

However, Mikel Arteta has a number of injury concerns that he is currently dealing with and he will be without some key players on Sunday. We have rounded up the latest on each Arsenal star and when they could potentially return to action.

Arsenal injury news and return dates

Gabriel

The Brazilian centre-back was injured on international duty with Brazil and has missed the last two games. He is still expected to be out for a little while yet. An update from Arteta revealed: “I think he’s evolving really, really well. We have to wait for the scan a little bit longer to be more precise in terms of the timings.

“I’m quite confident, especially the way Gabi takes every injury and the way he’s going to push everybody that it’s not going to be that long.”

Gabriel Jesus

The striker has been recovering from an ACL injury and has not played for almost a year. He is currently getting back up to full fitness. On him, Arteta said: “We have to see, obviously he’s been out 11 months and you need that progression, you need to see how his body reacts and what else he needs.

“The players that we have available as well, it has to make sense to have the right balance in the squad, so it’s a good thing. He’s very, very close at the moment.”

Leandro Trossard

The Belgian was forced off during the first half of Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday. However, he might be available to face Chelsea.

Arteta said: “Yeah, with Leo there’s another test today (Friday), we have to see how he’s feeling. It doesn’t look much, so we still have a few hours and we’ll have to see, it’s a potential chance (that he will be available).”

Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz

Gyokeres has not played since picking up a hamstring injury against Burnley while Havertz has not featured since undergoing surgery on a knee problem back in August.

Arteta provided a joint update on the forward pair, stating: “They are getting closer and closer, so we are very positive with both of them. The good thing is that now we find another option.

“We lost a player, two or three, we lost at some point six players in the front line, and the team continued to win and be very, very efficient, so I think that's very positive.”
