Liverpool could be on the lookout for a new manager if results under Arne Slot don’t improve.
The Reds have slumped to nine defeats in their last 12, their worst run of form since the 1950s.
Slot is supported by Liverpool for the time being, but this run of form is unsustainable for any coach.

One of the potential options to come in for the Dutchman is former midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Xabi Alonso’s feelings on Real Madrid amid Liverpool interest
Amid potential talk of a Slot dismissal, it was reported last week that Alonso would take the Liverpool job if it were to become available.
Now, speaking to Football Daily, journalist Guillem Balague has shared how the Spaniard is feeling about his current role in Spain.
He said: “There is a lack of love, relationship between players and the manager, that is true.

“The players are feeling uncomfortable with so many rules in the positional game, the disconnection is clear.
“I think the only one who is helping is Bellingham, but he’s been injured.
“I think Xabi is thinking – ‘If they don’t want me, I’ll go home and go another way to whatever I want to do, which is manage a top side.’ It is like that at the moment. Something is not right, but also the leaks come from the top, hence the stories that you see in all the media.”

Why Xabi Alonso didn’t join Liverpool
This is not the first time the ex-player has been mooted to return to Anfield.
He was linked as a potential replacement for Jurgen Klopp before Slot was confirmed as the new Liverpool manager.
But Alonso suggested why he didn’t join in a previous interview, seeming to say it was because he was happy with what he had at Bayer Leverkusen at the time.
He said: “All these decisions, they need to be thorough. You need to really think about them. And it was more about what I had, not what I’m missing.
“For sure, my bond with Liverpool is there and it’s still there. So there’s no, any kind of issue with that.”
