Defender Myles Lewis-Skelly featured at left-back against Bayern Munich, but he struggled against Michael Olise at the Emirates. The defender hasn’t been playing much this season, as Arteta has preferred Riccardo Calafiori, suggesting murmurs that he could leave in January in search of more game time.

If he does get more game time, the 18-year-old could reclaim his spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad ahead of the World Cup in the summer.

Arsenal planning to keep Lewis-Skelly in January

Former Premier League scout Mick Brown has said that Arsenal have no plans to let Lewis-Skelly leave in January, despite his desire for more minutes. Brown told Football Insider: “Look, Arsenal still see him, Lewis-Skelly, as a key part of their long-term plans at the club.He signed a new long-term contract not long ago as well, so I don’t think they would even consider letting him go to join a Premier League rival.

“He got a rare start against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, where he struggled a bit but I think any player is going to struggle against Michael Olise. They won’t be too harsh on him after that performance, I think he was lacking a bit of rhythm as well.

“Arsenal are not considering letting him go, they’re fighting on all fronts this season, top of the Premier League and Champions League tables as well.”

Who could the Gunners sell in the transfer window?

In terms of potential departures at Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus has been mentioned as a player who could leave in January, as the Gunners no longer have a need for the former Man City star.

Jesus has been dealing with a long-term ACL injury, but when he does return, he will still be behind Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres in terms of the striker depth, so could leave in search of more game time.

Several clubs in Europe could be interested in the 28-year-old, but he has also expressed his desire to return to Brazilian club Palmeiras towards the end of his career.
