Liverpool must be asking questions of everyone at the club at every level as their on-pitch struggles continue.
That is according to ex-Aberdeen and Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who predicts that Liverpool‘s form is not guaranteed to improve at West Ham next.
Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat at home to PSV in the Champions League was their seventh loss in 10 matches in all competitions.
Calls for Arne Slot to be sacked as Liverpool manager are increasing, with the Reds sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table after their title success last season.
‘There are questions being asked’ at Liverpool states Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes there is also growing pressure on chief executive Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks their use of AI may be backfiring.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “There are big question marks about Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, and I’ve given them so much praise before in the way that they’ve gone into the whole AI area and different things, but this is one example without real human involvement and an understanding of football where it can rebound.

“So, yes, look, it’s an unhappy ship and at the very top level, the spotlight is on you, particularly for a club like Liverpool. So it’s a tricky patch and they’re away at West Ham at the weekend, which is not an easy game either.
“I think West Ham showing a little bit of form as well and Nuno getting them going. So interesting. We’ll see how that plays out.
“But yes, I think at all levels of Liverpool, there are questions being asked right now. What could they have done better and what did they get wrong, more importantly, so we don’t do it again.”

Xabi Alonso contender to replace Arne Slot
Liverpool may need to make a decision on Slot if their run of defeats continues, with rumours already swirling over who could replace the Dutchman.
Xabi Alonso has entered the race to become the next Liverpool manager, with the Real Madrid boss having enjoyed five years as a player at Anfield.
The 44-year-old is in his first season as manager at Real Madrid, having won the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen in 2024.
