This ever-growing transfer saga takes another twist.
Liverpool will have a constant eye on the upcoming January transfer window as their problems continue to deepen.
The Reds are currently on their worst run of form since 1953, and Arne Slot has his work cut out for him to turn things around.
With his job on the line, he needs to get through a busy December period by pulling together a string of positive results, something he appears incapable of doing at the minute.
If he can do that, he could get himself back into the good books by bringing in some players who can turn our season around.
The potential arrival of Marc Guehi has been discussed, but at this time it appears unlikely that Liverpool will splash the cash on a player who will become a free agent in the summer.
However, the more the Reds hesitate and bide their time, a whole host of European giants are circling, ready for the right opportunity to strike.
At the end of October, it was revealed that Inter Milan have a plan to sign him, but face fierce competition from Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool.
There has since been a development on that, and the Crystal Palace captain very much remains on Inter Milan’s list of targets for Jnauary and next summer.
According to Calcio Mercato – “Several names were probed during the last summer and others have already emerged looking at the reopening of the market in January but above all with an eye turned towards the summer of 2026.”
“Guehi, Muhamerovic, Solet, Gila as far as the defensive department is concerned.”
Inter Milan currently employ an ageing defence.
Stefan de Vrij is 33, whilst his defensive partner Francesco Acerbi is 37.
Full-back Matteo Darmian turns 36 in December.
Because of this, they view Marc Guehi as an ideal successor, and a player that can carry them into the future.
