These two teams just met a few games ago in Toronto, and the Hornets nearly pulled off the upset. They had a late lead, but a Scottie Barnes offensive rebound off an airball and a couple of blocked shots overturned that.
The teams will look a little different this time around. RJ Barrett, who scored the game winning basket in the last meeting, is out as he works back from a minor knee injury. The Hornets, on the other hand, have their star wing back, assuming Brandon Miller doesn’t sit out the second game of a back to back. That swings the odds more in the Hornets favor, though it’s still an uphill climb against a Raptors team that’s been one of the hottest teams in the league.
The Raptors haven’t lost a game in three weeks and have won nine games in a row. To add to the difficulty for the Hornets, the Raptors have had two days off to travel and rest up in preparation for this game, while the Hornets are playing their second game in less than 24 hours. It’ll be a tough one, but maybe the power of the Birds of Paradise can carry the Hornets to a win.
