Dutch press predict when Arne Slot could be fired as Liverpool patience begins to wear out

Liverpool have a fairly kind run of fixtures coming up, which Arne Slot might need to win to keep his job.

Slot spoke with FSG following what was a harrowing 4-1 defeat to PSV in the Champions League earlier this week.

The feeling right now is that, despite six defeats in seven in the Premier League and nine in 12 across all competitions, Liverpool are backing their manager.

But fans are talking about potential replacements for Slot already, and the Dutch press think he could be ousted from his role within a week or so.

When Liverpool could sack Arne Slot

Liverpool face West Ham United in a Premier League fixture on Sunday afternoon.

The Hammers are just above the relegation zone, but their form has taken an upturn in recent weeks.

The trip to the capital is then followed by meetings with Sunderland and Leeds United in the league, before a clash with Inter Milan on December 9.

Now, writing in De Telegraaf, former PSV player Wim Kieft has suggested the Dutchman could be dismissed if results don’t improve within two or three games.

He wrote: “All in all, Liverpool’s performances against Nottingham Forest and PSV were staggering. There are no clues to halt the decline.

“Even the magical Arne Slot can’t turn this around overnight. He can’t conjure up goals. And what no one thought possible could easily happen: Slot being fired after two or three more poor results.”

If that proves to be the case, Slot could be out of a job by December 6, when Liverpool are due to take on Leeds at Elland Road.

Replacements for Arne Slot

There has been a suggestion from Austria this week that if Liverpool change managers, Oliver Glasner may expect a phone call.

He has done tremendous work at Crystal Palace in the last 18 months, including FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs.

Which Crystal Palace player would you most like to see Oliver Glasner bring to Liverpool?

Marc Guehi (to replace Ibrahima Konate)

Adam Wharton (Liverpool need a midfielder)

Daniel Munoz (Right-back is a problem area)

Jean-Philippe Mateta (Ongoing transfer links)

Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso’s relationship with Real Madrid has become a topic of conversation amid talk that he would be open to taking the Liverpool job.

Madrid are top of La Liga right now, but there have been claims that some players aren’t happy with the Spaniard.
