Phil Foden celebrates his last gasp goal for Manchester City against Leeds United
Few expected Leeds United to get a result against Manchester City but there is no question the visitors deserved one.
Phil Foden's class was ultimately the difference between the two sides with his stoppage time goal sending the visitors home crestfallen.
He had guided in the opener with barely 60 seconds gone before his shot led to the corner which Josko Gvardiol's goal came from.
Farke changed tack at half-time, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jaka Bijol prompting a sea change amid a 5-3-2 set-up.
Calvert-Lewin found the net four minutes after the break before winning the penalty that led to Lukas Nmecha firing home from the rebound.
Farke didn't win any points but maybe some supporters back around. This has bought him time.
Daniel Farke's plan of frustration ended on 65 seconds when Foden guided home Matheus Nunes' cross to put the visitors off to a nightmare start.
Whether this made Man City become lax in concentration or not, Leeds were able to advance into the final third a number of times, albeit with no shot mustered.
Once that mini spell was weathered, James Justin - beaten easily for the first goal - made a super block to deny a certain goal from a pull back on 20 minutes.
Seven minutes later, City would have a second. Goalkeeper Lucas Perri did superbly to tip over from Foden, who might have been in an offside position.
But the resulting corner was allowed to proceed and Perri made a hash of his punch. Nico O'Reilly directed his header on goal and Gvardiol was there to scoop it over the line.
VAR checked to see whether Bernardo Silva had impeded Perri from an offside position - but after a lengthy wait, the goal stood.
Leeds were firmly on the back foot for large periods, as expected, and Perri was forced to save low with his feet from a powerful Tijjani Reijnders low effort shortly before half-time.
Farke rolled the dice at the break, bringing on Jaka Bijol and Dominic Calvert-Lewin for wingers Daniel James and Wilfried Gnonto.
Calvert-Lewin made an instant impact, guiding the ball home nine minutes after the break when sent through. He looked offside, but replays showed he was on by a distance.
Leeds eventually found the leveller from the spot when Calvert-Lewin was fouled by Gvardiol in the area after a deft ball from Nmecha. It was the latter who stepped up to see his spot kick saved before putting in the rebound to send the away end wild.
Leeds maintained periods of control and were the better team in some phases. City came close a few times, with Pascal Struijk somehow managing to slice a clearance wide when approaching the goalline.
However, Whites' hearts would be broken when Foden found the net in stoppage time, his shot from the ege of the box finding its way past the gloves of Perri.
Leeds would trudge off pointless but with a lot of positives to take. It's now about turning those positives into points.
