Leeds United extended their Premier League losing streak to four as they fell 3-2 to Manchester City in a drama-packed contest on Saturday.
Phil Foden scored twice to propel Pep Guardiola’s side to a hard-fought victory, which almost saw Leeds complete a stunning second-half comeback.
Daniel Farke’s side conceded twice within 25 minutes from Foden and Josko Gvardiol but managed to draw level through Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha’s efforts after the break.
Foden came to Man City’s rescue in stoppage time, slotting a left-foot finish into the bottom corner past Lucas Perri to inflict more misery on the under-pressure Farke.
Tim Sherwood Makes Farke Sack Prediction
Daniel Farke
Speaking during coverage of Leeds’ loss to Man City, Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood predicted that Farke will ‘100 per cent’ be sacked amid the club’s disappointing run of results:
“He will get sacked within the next three games. 100 per cent.
“I don’t think he should, I think they should keep hold of him because he’s getting the best out of the group he’s got.
“People will say they spent £100million, but they’re way behind and have got a lot of Championship players.
“A lot of established Premier League teams are spending even more than that, so they’re going further ahead.
“He will get sacked because they won’t sit on their hands; they’ll make a change.
“They can’t change the players, so they’ll change the manager.”
Having picked up four points from their last eight games, Leeds remain in the relegation zone and face a tough quest for points in their next two matches, taking on Chelsea and Liverpool.
The Whites have struggled on both ends of the pitch this season, ranking joint-second bottom in goals scored (13) and conceding 25 – only better than fellow bottom-three sides Burnley and Wolves.
Move for Former Coach Ruled Out
Carlos Corberan for West Bromwich Albion
According to reports in Spain, Leeds are unlikely to turn to former Elland Road coach Carlos Corberan as a potential replacement for Farke.
The Spanish tactician is not expected to leave Valencia despite their difficult start to the La Liga season, having steadied the ship with four points from their last two games.
Corberan worked at Leeds as Marcelo Bielsa’s assistant from 2017 to 2020 and only joined Valencia less than 12 months ago.
Leeds are also unlikely to move for former Union Berlin boss Bo Svensson, who is not rushing to return to management following his Bundesliga sacking last season.
Leeds Eyeing Striker Reinforcements
Troy Parrott in action for Republic of Ireland
Leeds may look to address their goalscoring woes in January by targeting a new forward, with Ireland international Troy Parrott reportedly among their targets.
The Whites are believed to be among several Premier League clubs eyeing the AZ Alkmaar striker, who has netted 14 times in 16 appearances this season.
