Manchester United, Liverpool or Arsenal could reportedly sign Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy next summer, as per transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Guirassy has been displaying his goal-scoring prowess in the Bundesliga over the last few years. After being impressed by his performances for Stuttgart, BVB signed him ahead of last season.
Having made 40 goal contributions across all competitions last term, he has netted nine goals and registered three assists thus far this campaign.
Now, on X, Plettenberg states that after proving his worth in the German top-flight, Guirassy is ready to leave next summer to take a new challenge in his career.
The 29-year-old has a £44m release clause in his current contract, which Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool are all eligible to trigger. Moreover, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea can also sign him by paying his clause.
Plettenberg wrote:
“Serhou Guirassy is one to watch for the summer, as he could leave Borussia Dortmund. 29 y/o top striker is understood to have a release clause that should be at “only” around €50 million. It applies to seven top clubs: Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.”
Guirassy to leave
The Merseyside club decided to revamp the centre-forward position by signing Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak last summer. However, the Swede has found it difficult to showcase his best at Anfield thus far this season, failing to find the back of the net in the Premier League and Champions League yet.
On the other hand, Ekitike enjoyed a bright start but has been out of form in recent weeks, netting only once in the last 10 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Arsenal signed Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP last summer to bolster the striker position. However, he displayed average performances in the Premier League before sustaining a muscular problem.
Man Utd also reinforced the No.9 department and signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in the last transfer window. But he has taken time to adapt to the Premier League’s physicality, while Joshua Zirkzee has continued to display below-average performances since joining from Bologna last year.
Therefore, the Dortmund star might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal, Man Utd or Arsenal should any of those clubs eventually opt to secure his service.
