Anthony Davis made his return to game action for the Dallas Mavericks against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night after an extended stay on the sideline due to a calf injury. Davis played 28 minutes in the contest and tallied 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
His return wasn’t enough to propel Dallas to victory, as the Lakers walked away with a 129-119 victory and now he’ll be back on the sideline. Davis has been officially ruled out of Dallas’ Saturday night matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers due to injury management.
The fact that Davis isn’t playing isn’t a huge surprise, as it has become commonplace in the NBA to rest a player fresh off of an injury on the second night of a back-to-back. That’s exactly what’s happening here. The Mavericks don't want Davis to play too much, too quickly immediately upon his return.
