Everton returned to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday evening on the back of their stunning victory away to Old Trafford earlier in the week.
David Moyes’ side welcomed Newcastle United and former Toffee Anthony Gordon to their new state-of-the-art stadium.
It is now almost two years since Gordon departed Merseyside to join the Toon.
Going into the game, Eddie Howe shared just how impressed he was with Everton following the return of their 62-year-old manager in January.
There were a number of Everton fans awaiting his return to the club as they ‘welcomed’ him to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
However, the 24-year-old was not included in the starting XI for the Magpies having failed to impress in recent weeks.

Anthony Gordon received fierce welcome to Everton’s new stadium
Wayne Rooney called Gordon out for the way he left Everton to make the move north to sign for Newcastle back in 2023.
Gordon has not enjoyed playing against the Blues ever since making the move to Tyneside.

Ahead of what turned out to be a disastrous evening for Everton, journalist Dominic Scurr shared the fierce reception Gordon received at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
What did he honestly expect?
Anthony Gordon was not given the warmest of receptions on his return to Merseyside…
The 24-year-old was jeered and booed as he walked off the Newcastle team bus and entered the new home of the Blues.
He laughed it off with the winger then seen joking with his teammates as they entered the stadium.
Andros Townsend admitted Gordon did not work hard enough when he was playing his football at Goodison Park.
Frustratingly, the England winger got the last laugh on the day despite barely playing a part in the game on the docks.
Gordon’s reaction says it all about his respect for Everton
After forcing his exit from Merseyside back in 2023, it became pretty clear just how he viewed the club who brought him through their ranks.
Gordon was always set for an unpleasant welcome back to Everton and that is exactly what he got.
The former Everton academy graduate has not held back in some of his comments since leaving the club, too.
Anthony Gordon feels Everton fans have treated him terribly
“I think the effort I gave them last year… I won players’ players (of the year) and manager’s player of the year, so for them to not even show me any credit or thank me, it hurts a little bit.”

His reaction on Saturday afternoon just summed it up as he showed little acknowledgement to the fans who saw him develop into a first team player.
The only positive to take from the game was the fact the Newcastle winger did not rub salt in the wound with a goal of his own.
