Newcastle United players arrive at Hill Dickinson Stadium,
David Moyes paid Newcastle United a big compliment following their 4-1 win at Everton.
The Magpies cruised to a 4-1 win on their first-ever visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium. It also marked United’s first win away from home in the Premier League since April.
Malick Thiaw headed his side in front less than a minute in before Lewis Miley doubled the lead in the 25th minute. A third goal came on the brink of half-time through Nick Woltemade and Thiaw added a fourth near the hour-mark.
Thierno Barry thought he had pulled one back but was penalised for handball. The Toffees, however, did get their consolation goal through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
David Moyes reflects on Everton’s defeat to Newcastle United
Reflecting on his side’s defeat, Moyes told reporters: “I can see that Newcastle are learning from their Champions League experiences. When they have to defend or are hard to play against, they're really quick on the counter-attack.
“We were beaten by the better team, there's no doubt about that.
“You mustn't underestimate, these are a Champions League team. “We're coming here and then turned up and thought this was going to be a given for us.
“I know they haven't won away from home, but they probably had a different feeling losing to Marseille in midweek. We had a different feeling when we beat Manchester United away from home.
“We go into it knowing that they're making sure they're going to try and get something out of the game. They got off to a great start, we didn't. Something really to hang on to as well.”
David Moyes pays Newcastle United major compliment
Moyes went on to label Newcastle as “maybe the most powerful team in the Premier League”.
He added: “We beat Newcastle at St James' Park when they had to win to beat us to qualify for the Champions League, so we can go and beat them.
“But tonight they were far too powerful for us. Maybe the strongest, maybe the most powerful team in the Premier League beat Newcastle.Maybe Arsenal might sway them on that. Strong team, big, every player big, physical, hard to play against.”
