It was a historic night for Jaylen Brown in Minnesota despite a tight 119-115 Celtics loss to the Timberwolves.
Brown became the first Celtic in franchise history to post 41 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals in a game, making him Saturday’s “Name to Know” Player of the Game. Brown tied his season-high with the 41-point outburst, with him doing most of his damage before intermission when he erupted for 27 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds. The hot shooting start helped Boston jump out to a 10-point lead at halftime against a formidable Wolves squad.
Brown was questionable before the game due to back spasms, but it did not stop Brown from putting together his most efficient effort of the year. He shot 17-of-32 from the field and knocked down a season-high five 3-point attempts, including one in the final two minutes to cap a 12-0 run and help Boston tie up the game. The Wolves went on a 9-2 run from there to put the game away and spoil Brown’s performance.
The All-Star has now scored 33 or more points in three straight games and is averaging 28.4 points per game in the month of November. He will try to close out November on a strong note on Sunday night when the Celtics face off with the Cavaliers in Cleveland.
