Speaking to Sports Mole, Lynch highlighted Liverpool’s biggest weakness — direct play.
He explained: “I’m massively concerned about this match because they’ve got all the ingredients to hurt Liverpool.”
He pointed to the creativity of Lucas Paqueta, the pace of Jarrod Bowen, and the aerial power of Tomas Soucek as West Ham’s biggest threats.
Liverpool have already conceded 10 goals from set pieces this season, far more than the two they had at this stage last year.
For a team leaking goals, that is a worrying sign.
What exactly makes this matchup so dangerous?
West Ham are unbeaten in three league games and have momentum under Nuno Espírito Santo.
They sit deep, break fast, and make the most of set pieces — a playbook that has apparently troubled Liverpool all season. And with Liverpool coming off a 4–1 defeat to PSV, the timing could not be worse.
Lynch said he was already “getting sweaty palms” thinking about the matchup, warning that Liverpool “don’t have answers” to their defensive issues right now.
