Liverpool initiate surprise talks to sign £15m Everton star who 'looks like a Man City player' - journalist

Liverpool could be about to make an attempt to sign a star from their biggest rivals.

The Reds’ season has not gone to plan whatsoever, with nine losses in their last 12 games showing how far they have fallen.

Arne Slot’s job is now on the line because of this, with a strong possibility that the Dutchman does not last until the new year.

However, that has not seemed to have stopped Liverpool from planning ahead in terms of transfers, with there being one Everton player in particular who they are looking at as a potential arrival.

It would certainly be a bold move given that the two very rarely do business, but the Reds might do all they can given how good he has been this season.

Liverpool looking at Iliman Ndiaye

Before Everton’s heavy defeat to Newcastle on Saturday evening, the Toffees were actually above Liverpool in the table, showing just how bad things have got for the Reds.

One reason for this is because Iliman Ndiaye has started the season on fire, with the Senegalese forward one of, if not their best, player.

And according to journalist Santi Aouna, he has caught the eye of many Premier League clubs, with one of these being Liverpool.

Man City and Tottenham are also said to have added him to their shortlist of options, although any move would not happen until the summer.

He also reports that the player has had initial talks with his agents regarding a potential move away from Everton in the near future, suggesting this one could gain traction as the season progresses.

Ndiaye has four goals and one assist this season, although his influence is still felt most games even if he does not contribute to a goal.

Who is your dream Liverpool January signing?

He has pace and power when he dribbles, with this something Liverpool are missing this season, which is why he would be a very shrewd signing if it were to happen.

Jamie Carragher loves Iliman Ndiaye

Ndiaye has clearly caught the eye of many top clubs, but he has also captured the attention of many pundits with his performances.

Ex-Liverpool player Jamie Carragher is just one person who is a big fan of the 25-year-old, with the scouser once saying he has the quality to play for a club like Man City.

“He’s an absolutely fabulous player. He’s brilliant,” he said on Sky Sports at the start of November.

“I watched him a couple of weeks ago against Man City; it looked like a Man City player was playing for Everton – that’s the best way I can describe him*.*

“This guy is Everton’s best player, and he was Everton’s best player last season by a long way.”
