Former Leeds United defender Jon Newsome has called out double standards in the Premier League after the controversy surrounding Gianluigi Donnarumma’s lengthy injury treatment.
Daniel Farke will be pleased with the spirit his side showed to come back from 2-0 down against Manchester City, before falling to a heartbreaking defeat.
However, the game was overshadowed by an incident involving Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, after he went down injured midway through the second half.
Donnarumma received lengthy treatment on the pitch, which allowed Pep Guardiola to deliver an impromptu team talk as they attempted to deal with Leeds’ new tactical set-up.
Tony Dorigo called out Man City for their handling of the incident, and Jon Newsome has joined him in voicing his frustration at the Italian goalkeeper.

Former Leeds United defender Jon Newsome calls for Man City investigation
Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds after the defeat against Manchester City, Newsome shared his frustration over Donnarumma’s long injury treatment.
According to Newsome, Man City should be investigated for the delay, which he believes was a tactic to allow City to adapt to Leeds’ tactical changes.

“We got in and around them; there was a change of personnel; it was a change of shape. They struggled with it.
“Hence, the keeper sits on the floor, and they have a five-minute team talk, which again, you know, without wanting to be like sour grapes, but shouldn’t that be investigated?
“Shouldn’t that be looked at? You know, I’ll tell you what, if Leeds United had done that, they’d be all over it, wouldn’t they?”

Leeds United’s defence continues to be a problem for Daniel Farke
While Farke will be delighted with the manner of his side’s fightback, Leeds’ inability to keep a clean sheet will remain a concern for the German.
Goals from Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin handed Leeds a lifeline and, having pulled themselves back level, Leeds should have been able to hold on to a point.
A performance to be proud of after that first-half showing! Relive what turned out to be a frustrating afternoon here 😤
By shipping three goals at the Etihad, Farke’s side have now conceded 25 goals this season, after looking defensively resilient in the opening weeks of the season.
The Whites have now failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 10 Premier League games, having failed to shut out their opponents since the 0-0 draw against Newcastle United in August.
