Arne Slot has the easiest solution ever to one of Liverpool’s problems right now - opinion

Arne Slot needs to come up with some solutions to get Liverpool out of this mess.

The Reds have all but waved goodbye to any hopes of retaining their Premier League title, with nine losses in 12 games in all competitions showing how bad their form really is.

The worrying thing is that performances show no signs of improving any time soon either as, if anything, they are getting worse.

This is why Slot’s job has been seriously questioned and he is running out of time to find answers, with their game against West Ham perhaps pivotal in deciding his future.

However, if he manages to last longer, there is one obvious solution that he has which might just solve all his issues right now.

Liverpool should bring back John Heitinga

Last season, everything seemed to go exactly to plan both on and off the pitch, with the balance at the club feeling perfect.

However, the summer saw a big overhaul of players and even some staff, with one who left being assistant manager John Heitinga.

He went on to become the manager at Ajax, but after less than six months and just 15 matches in charge, he was sacked after a poor run of form.

This, however, means he is now available again, and based on how highly-rated he was at Anfield, bringing him back is not a bad option whatsoever.

He may not have been the brains behind the operation, but he certainly added a lot, with this clearly something that has been missing since he left.

With Giovanni van Bronckhorst under consideration for the Indonesia national team job too, a space would open up, suggesting that this move simply has to be done.

The players loved John Heitinga

Although what Heitinga’s full job role entailed is largely unknown, one thing that is known is that he was loved by the players at the club.

Many of them flocked to social media when he departed to thank him for everything he had done, with one of these being Ryan Gravenberch.

Gravenberch admitted that he was a bit of a role model for him during their time working together, showing how highly thought of he was.

It may not solve all of Liverpool’s issues, but it could at least help a bit, so if Slot does last, he might need to get on the phone to his old friend.
