The Egyptian winger has been relegated to the bench for today’s game.

Arne Slot and co. head to London this afternoon to face a West Ham United side that are experiencing a mini resurgence under Nuno Espirito Santo.

As for the Reds, they are currently on their worst run of form since 1953, and are currently sat 12th in the Premier League table.

An unthinkable situation given the fact that Liverpool lifted the Premier League title last season.

Such form has forced Arne Slot to make some big calls today.

Florian Wirtz comes back in to the starting lineup after overcoming a minor injury picked up during the latest international break.

Joe Gomez starts at right-back as Slot opts to pick a defender rather than a midfielder to cover in that position.

But, the big news of the day is that Arne Slot has benched Mohamed Salah for the game.

When asked about this decision pre-match, Slot said:

“We play four games in ten days. Sometimes Alex is on the bench, sometimes Florian. This is the eleven I chose today. It’s never an easy decision to make, it’s not the first time I’ve done this.”

After facing West Ham this afternoon, Liverpool face Sunderland on the 3rd December, Leeds United on the 6th, and Inter Milan in the Champions League ont he 9th.

It is clear to see why Arne Slot believes rotation is important as English football’s busy December period gets underway.
