Jamie Carragher has sounded a warning to Liverpool manager Arne Slot as pressure continues to build around Anfield.
Liverpool suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League at Anfield, marking the Reds' ninth loss in 12 games and the third consecutive match lost by a three-goal margin. The team bounced back on Sunday by beating West Ham 2-0 in London thanks to goals from Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo.
The string of poor results has intensified pressure on Slot, with last season’s title-winning campaign now a distant memory as the Reds sit 11th in the Premier League table.
As well as West Ham, Liverpool faces Sunderland and Leeds within the next week, with calls for Slot to provide results or face drastic action.
Speaking on Sky Sports Super Sunday before the win against West Ham, Carragher emphasized the importance of this week for Slot. He said: "This week could completely change for Liverpool.
"They could end the week in the Champions League places, and everyone will be asking what the fuss was about.
"If this week doesn't go well, the pressure and noise around the manager will only heighten."
Carragher has stated that Slot must secure at least seven points from Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures to ease mounting pressure on his position.
Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has also recently warned that Arne Slot’s “end is near" if his side doesn't start performing.
“I believe Arne Slot has lost control of the team,” the 2005 Champions League winner told Sky Germany. “It's falling apart, everyone is doing what they want, like [Mohamed] Salah before PSV's second goal.
“Liverpool will have major problems finishing in the Premier League top four. I don't believe these problems can be solved quickly or easily. The situation is so complex that the club will certainly be discussing the manager's position.

“Slots' end is near,” he added. “I never thought it would come to this after the brilliant season he had lasted, but I believe his credit has now run out.”
Hamann suggested Liverpool might look to turn around their poor form by trying to bring Jurgen Klopp back to the club.
Klopp, who stepped down as Liverpool manager in 2024 after nine years in charge, won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup during his tenure. The 58-year-old cited a lack of energy as the reason for his departure. He has previously indicated he may never return to management, a stance he reiterated in September.
“Many are already longing for Jürgen Klopp's return,” said the German. “If you ask the fans, many will surely say, ‘That would be something.’
“How likely is it that he'll return to Liverpool? I have no idea. But it would be the story of the decade. The club will already have considered alternative managers. I assume they've spoken with Klopp.”
