The Swede finally opened his domestic account against West Ham.

Liverpool ended a torrid run of form with a comfortable victory at the London Stadium this afternoon.

West Ham United have been struggling this season as well, and that was clear to see as they failed to capitalise on the chance to beat a Liverpool team that were low on confidence.

Arne Slot made some big calls before the game to drop Mohamed Salah and brought in Joe Gomez too to start at right-back.

Decisions that paid off as Liverpool looked much more secure in dealing with set-pieces and winning the battles in midfield.

Cody Gakpo grabbed a goal and assist to secure all three points for the Reds but the highglight of the day came in the form of Alexander Isak scoring his first Premier League goal for the Reds.

After the game, the striker reflected on the moment, expressing a frustration that it has taken him so long to get going in a Liverpoool shirt.

He said: “I’m aware that it has been a long time coming and I have been trying to get back to my best form.”

“I’m still on the way but I am happy to get that goal.”

“The best feeling today is that we win the game ans that is the best way to get a good spirit in the group but of course I am a striker so scoring goals will always help me.”

“We have to use this win in a good way but also be humble. We have to stay focused and keep working hard to keep this momentum.”
