Everton are being heavily linked with a move to sign Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee this January transfer window.
Everton News exclusively revealed in October that David Moyes was keeping a close eye on Zirkzee’s situation at Old Trafford.
It then emerged that Zirkzee wanted to leave Man United for another side in the Premier League to get back into the Netherlands squad ahead of the World Cup.
It’s up to Thierno Barry to change Everton’s mind from here until January…⌛
So the stars were beginning to align for Everton to sign Zirkzee this winter, however, that proposed deal has now just taken a backwards step.

Everton target Joshua Zirkzee finding his feet at Man United
Benjamin Sesko has been ruled out for a number of weeks due to a knee injury, so Zirkzee has come in from the cold and started the last two matches.
The former Bologna frontman was in action against Crystal Palace this afternoon and he scored a quite magnificent goal.
In fact, his all-around performance was really encouraging from a United perspective, so Amorim will certainly reconsider sanctioning his sale.

That was actually Zirkzee’s first goal Premier League since scoring a brace against Everton in December 2024, ironically.
With all that said, Moyes and his recruitment staff may have to look at other options, with Zirkzee slowly becoming a key player for United.
Everton should prioritise a Premier League striker
Whoever Everton end up going for up front, they must ensure it’s a Premier League-proven striker, as they can’t afford to take another gamble.
Even if it’s a short-term fix, like a Danny Welbeck or a Callum Wilson for instance, that would be a much better plan than shelling out £30m on Troy Parrott, who may take time to adapt just like Barry.
Zirkzee would’ve been a decent option because of his experience of the division, but there are probably better out there.
Could Everton even bring back Richarlison? That would certainly be a popular signing among the fanbase, as they still adore him.

“I’m told he would love the chance to play at the new stadium for the Toffees.”

Richarlison is keen on a return to Merseyside, so it would be a doable deal, so long as it’s a loan rather than a permanent one.
