Gakpo has been slammed for his displays off the left, including in the recent loss to PSV.

Fans have been calling for Federico Chiesa to start matches out wide instead of the Dutchman.

However, the 26-year-old put on what was perhaps his best display of the season when Liverpool beat West Ham 2-0.

Will Cody Gakpo start vs Sunderland

It was a great result for Slot amid the continued talk around his future in the dugout.

But there are a couple of issues the Dutchman must contend with after West Ham.

Now that Isak is up and running, how will he fit both the Swede and Hugo Ekitike into the eleven?

Given how well Wirtz played, he must start in the middle again, but what does that mean for the rest of Liverpool’s frontline?

Gakpo is likely to keep his place as Slot clearly favours him even when he’s out of form, but players like Salah and Ekitike may have a hard time getting back in the team now.
