Nuno Espirito Santo plans to talk to Lucas Paqueta to get an understanding of the reaction which led to his sending off during West Ham's loss to Liverpool.
Paqueta received two quick-fire yellow cards for dissent in the 83rd and 84th minutes, with the first coming as he protested a decision to award a foul against West Ham teammate Niclas Fullkrug.
Bizarrely, Paqueta then continued to protest for a sustained period of time until the referee brandished his yellow card for a second time.
West Ham boss Nuno was asked about Paqueta's behaviour in a post-game interview, but said he would reserve his judgement until after he had spoken to the player.
"I'm not going to comment too much," Nuno said. "First of all I'm going to speak to Lucas and try to understand his frustrations and his behaviour.
"We need all the players and we are going to need them until the end of the season. Every player out, we're going to miss them."
On West Ham's overall performance, Nuno said: "It's a disappointing day. We felt we were in the game, we were controlling the game. A lack of concentration cost us.
"We fought against a good team. The final pass, the final cross wasn't there... we didn't perform as well as should have. We'll bounce back."
Meanwhile, Paqueta took to social media to explain the reaction which led to his sending off, writing: "It's ridiculous to have your life and career affected for two years without any psychological support from the federation.

"Perhaps this ridiculous behavior is just a reflection of everything I've had to endure and, it seems, have to continue enduring! I'm sorry if I'm not perfect."
Paqueta was cleared of spot-fixing charges earlier this year after it had been accused of deliberately getting booked for betting purposes. The investigation by the English Football Association into Paqueta began in August 2023, and he was cleared in August 2025.
"Since the first day of this investigation, I have maintained my innocence against these extremely serious accusations," said Paqueta upon the conclusion of the investigation.
"I can't say anything more at this time, but I would like to express how grateful I am to God and how eager I am to return to playing football with a smile on my face.
"To my wife who never let go of my hand, to West Ham United, to the fans who always cheered me on, and to my family, friends and the legal team who have supported me - thank you for everything."
