Chelsea and Arsenal battled to a 1-1 draw in a thrilling London derby encounter at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.
The game’s real chance came from Bukayo Saka’s shot after he was found by Eberechi Eze, but the winger’s effort was saved by Robert Sanchez.
Estevao created a chance for Pedro Neto minutes later, but the Portuguese’s shot was blocked.
The Brazilian teenager had two chances in quick succession to give the Blues the lead. First, his effort from 10 yards out following a João Pedro cross went over the bar.
He later had his sights set on goal again from 25 yards out, but his curling effort did not trouble David Raya in goal.
João Pedro himself could have broken the deadlock minutes later after he dispossessed Piero Hincapie just outside the Gunners’ box, but the Brazilian couldn’t get his shot away, and his subsequent pass to Enzo Fernandez went wayward.
The Blues continued to mount pressure on the visitors, and Raya was called into action for the first time of the night as he comfortably gathered Enzo’s shot.
Caicedo was sent off just past the half-hour mark after he caught the ankle of Mikel Merino following a lengthy VAR check.
Just before the break, Gabriel Martinelli tested Sanchez from a distance, but the Spaniard was equal to it as he denied the Brazilian.
The host resumed the second half with the same intensity as João Pedro’s header from Reece James’ free-kick almost crept in at the near post, but Raya made a fine stop to keep the score level.
The Gunners couldn’t absorb the host’s pressure any longer as Trevoh Chalobah headed Chelsea ahead in the 48th minute, after James curled in a corner into the near post.
However, just before the hour mark, Merino restored parity between the sides after he headed in Saka’s cross, leaving Sanchez rooted to the ground.
Liam Delap saw his powerful low strike saved by Raya as the Blues looked for the winner.
At the other end, the Gunners flashed a shot over the bar from a wonderful Arsenal move.
Later on, Merino forced another fine stop from Sanchez low to his left and then was clattered into by Viktor Gyokeres when diving on the follow-up.
Arsenal goes five points clear of Manchester City in second, and Chelsea drops down to third in the Premier League standings.
