If you thought the Sacramento Kings’ regular season schedule was about to lighten up, think again.
While Sacramento appeared to have dragged itself through a brutal opening 20-game stretch that included three matchups against each of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Denver Nuggets, the NBA schedule makers have decided to add two more tough matchups onto the Beam Team’s plate.
As the NBA Cup’s Group Play stage came to a close last week, the league announced its updated schedule for the week of December 8th through 14th.
All 30 teams had dates within that timeframe reserved for either the NBA Cup Knockout Stage and Championship or, for eliminated teams like the Kings, two regular-season games that bring the 2025-26 game total from 80 to 82.
Here are the matchups that the NBA has chosen for the Sacramento Kings:
Thursday, December 11th – vs. Denver Nuggets – 7:00 PM PT
Sunday, December 14th – @ Minnesota Timberwolves – 4:00 PM PT
In three matchups against the Nuggets this season, Sacramento is 1-2 while being outscored by an average margin of 8.3 points per game. The Kings are also 1-2 against the Timberwolves this year, being outscored by an average of 15.3 points in those contests.
Sacramento currently has the second-easiest remaining strength of schedule in the NBA, but the schedule makers didn’t do them any favors when it comes to getting back on track.
Now, if a high draft pick is something that you’re interested in, the NBA may have done the Kings a favor here.
When is the next Sacramento Kings game?
The Sacramento Kings will hit the road for a three-stop road trip that begins Wednesday night in Houston.
Sacramento will face the Rockets for the first time this season, a team that is off to a strong start as they enter play against the Kings in possession of a top-five seed in the loaded Western Conference.
Last season, Sacramento swept the season series (3-0) against Houston, winning the lone matchup at Toyota Center by a final of 113-103 on March 1st behind 21 points from DeMar DeRozan.
