West Ham unable to beat poor Liverpool side

**West Ham suffer defeat at home to a poor Liverpool side.**

A team in awful, out-of-character form with a manager’s job potentially on the line? Enter Dr. West Ham United.

Whether Liverpool are really not that good or whether they didn’t feel the need to get out of first gear, West Ham almost gifted them the win today.

While the Hammers did have some very good spells, their failure to register a single shot on goal meant that there was simply no challenge for the visitors.

The first 45’ saw Alphonse Areola make some great saves, but the Irons did a good job at limiting Liverpool’s chances.

After the break, West Ham came out strong, but the Reds took the lead in the 60th minute via Alexander Isak – his first league goal for the club.

The Hammers continued to battle well after this though, however it was ultimately Lucas Paqueta’s absolutely idiotic two yellow cards for dissent which led his side with little to no chance of finding an equaliser.

Arne Slot’s side took advantage of the extra man, finishing the game off in the 92nd minute through Cody Gakpo.

Again, there were positives, but they were all massively overshadowed by Paqueta’s red card. Ultimately though, failing to register a shot on target against a team that’s been as poor defensively as Liverpool have is not acceptable. January needs to see multiple players come through the door, otherwise West Ham are in serious trouble.
