During Saturday’s game versus the New Orleans Pelicans, Jimmy Butler took a scary fall during the second quarter. It took a moment for him to get up, but he remained in the game, ending the night with 24 points, 10 assists, and 8 total rebounds.
”It’s all good,” Butler said in a press conference after the game. “Be alright. Got a lot of cushioning back there. Straight ass. That’s what it was.”
Butler landed hard on his side, avoiding injury to any extremities, which are notably very necessary to play basketball, and are the most frequently injured body parts for NBA players. This fall was similar to one that led to lower back bruising that kept Butler sidelined during the Warriors’ playoff series versus the Houston Rockets, but Butler appears to be powering through.
“I am (hurting),” Butler said. “I was. I’ll be fine. Got a day, two days to recover. Get back into it.”
Butler also reported during a timeout that ‘everything’ hurt, per The Mercury News. However, Butler doesn’t seem too shaken by some soreness that might keep other veteran players out for a game or two to be safe.
With Steph Curry still out due to a right quad contusion sustained during November 26th’s game versus the Houston Rockets, the Warriors want to avoid injury as much as possible — especially to their other star players.
The Warriors won Saturday’s game 104-96, and Butler is listed as available for Tuesday’s game versus the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
