Everton 1-4 Newcastle United - Jordan Cronin & Liam Kennedy react
Alexander Isak bagged his fist Premier League goal for Liverpool in their 2-0 win over West Ham United.
Alexander Isak has admitted it was a “long time coming” for his first Premier League goal in Liverpool colours.
Newcastle United supporters have enjoyed hate-watching the Swede following his £130million move to Anfield. Isak downed tools throughout the summer transfer window to force an exit - burning all of his bridges on Tyneside.
A dismal start - impacted by a lack of fitness - saw the 26-year-old bag just once in 10 games for the Reds. However, Isak broke his top-flight duck with a well-timed finish to break the deadlock against West Ham United.
Alexander Isak admission
Speaking post-match, Isak conceded that his form since leaving Newcastle has not been up to scratch. He told Sky Sports: "I'm aware that it has been a long time coming, and I have been trying to get back to my best form. I'm still on the way, but I am happy to get that goal. The best feeling today is that we won the game and that is the best way to get a good spirit in the group.
“But, of course, I am a striker, so scoring goals will always help me. We have to use this win in a good way, but also be humble. We have to stay focused and keep working hard to keep this momentum. We knew it was going to be difficult to get back to winning ways after our recent form.
“I'm happy that we won and happy to be on the scoresheet as well. When you are going through tough times as a team, it is about fighting. The boys did really well."

“It was mutually beneficial. We helped him become the player he in part is today and he helped us as a team achieve some unbelievable milestones and was part of a very successful team. The moment he went on strike our relationship did change and that was probably a turning point in our relationship."
