Chelsea and Manchester United‘begin negotiations’ – Offers on way in ‘coming weeks’

Chelsea and Manchester United are both making advances to sign Grêmio’s Luis Eduardo, according to AS.

The 17-year-old has represented the Brazilian club’s U20 side since the start of this year. He also made his senior debut in February and that has been his only appearance for the first team.

Eduardo represented Brazil at the U17 World Cup in Qatar last month. They lost the semi-final and the third-place play-off to Portugal and Italy respectively on penalties.

The centre-back was a key member of the squad, and his form have seen Chelsea and Manchester United take notice.

AS make it clear it’s their own information. They claim the youngster is known for his pace and reached 38 km/h for Grêmio U20 earlier this year.

Chelsea and Manchester United have been impressed by his displays and potential.

The newspaper states several other clubs have scouted Eduardo. Both Chelsea and Ruben Amorim’s side have ‘already done their homework and are trying to accelerate their pursuit’.

The report explains the Premier League duo ‘already began negotiations’ during the FIFA tournament in Qatar. The Blues and the Red Devils’ contact should result in offers in the ‘coming weeks’.

In July, Eduardo extended his contract until 2028, and it includes a €60m clause. It isn’t specified the fee Chelsea or Manchester United are planning to propose.

Eduardo will turn 18 years of age in January. He will be eligible to move to the UK as long as he obtains a work permit.
